Red kite - info
Introduction

Five birds from other areas (Northern Kites – 4, Midlands – 1) were included in the breeding pairs recorded above. Two of them had bred successfully in Yorkshire in 2006 and, as things turned out, these two were the only birds among the five visitors to succeed in 2007.

Two Yorkshire birds (Orange/White 2 and Orange/White 5) which have been settled in other areas for some time, bred successfully, each raising two young at their nests in Northamptonshire and Perthshire respectively – the latter being the first record of a successful union between the English and Scottish reintroduction projects.

During 2007 visiting birds have been recorded from Northern Kites (Tyne and Wear), Dumfries and Galloway, Wales, Northern Scotland and the Midlands.

Yorkshire birds recorded elsewhere were Orange/Orange 6 seen at Walberswick in Suffolk, though subsequently noted near Harewood and Orange/Green 1 which has been seen in the autumn at the Northern Kites roost site in Tyne and Wear.
