A grant application to Environment Wales, supported by The Wildlife Trusts Wales, RSPB and CCW also failed because the booklet was not "innovative enough" This dire situation reflects the current state of play with regard to funding whereby species re-introductions, anything to do with regional development and tourism can be funded whereas "core funding" for day-to-day running expenses and long-term studies nearly always fail to qualify.
We also fall foul of a Lottery Fund ruling which bars applications for single species projects.
Let us hope that sales prove rewarding and generate the income we badly need.
